Insurance was the boring part that turned out to matter most
We bought a small place in Guardamar this summer and I want to write down the part that turned out to be genuinely interesting: the cover.
Home insurance in Spain was straightforward once we understood that contents and structure are quoted separately and the community policy covers less than we assumed. Health cover took longer, because I am 58 and self-employed and the private plans price those two facts hard.
The flat itself came from https://alegria-realestate.com/ and we did all the paperwork between Copenhagen and Alicante in about four months.
What I would ask the people in this group: for someone splitting the year between two countries, is a single international policy genuinely better value than one plan in each place? I have quotes for both and they are close enough that I cannot tell.
