They
don't carry a big attaché case then peddle their goods
like a typical salesman. Instead, they bring with them intelligence,
warmth & their designer bags with life insurance proposals
ready for a prospect. Armed with the knowledge that their
product is worth hearing-out, 1st
Life's Top of the Table* achiever Lorna Lao
and Court of the Table** qualifier Josie Gotohio, meet with
prospects and win over their trust with the confidence they
exude in their job as Financial Planners. Lorna & Josie
knew right from the start that this kind of profession is
different than handling a business. Dealing with people, their
varying financial requirements is a different territory for
these entrepreneurs at heart.
TRUST
In establishing a client-financial planner relationship, trust
is an important factor. A good financial planner or agent
should be someone you can talk to about your finances and
plans for your loved ones. They will be the one to take care
of your dreams and make sure that they come true. "You
create a client-agent relationship that blossom into a friendship
through time," Lorna said. The financial planner should
be attuned to his or her customers' goals in life and one
who is acting in their best interest. After all, the key to
a good client/agent relationship-indeed with any relationship
for that matter-is mutual trust.
HEART
"Heart," Josie said. "This is a major factor
why I find my job rewarding." This career entails finding
a solution to a problem that is not yet there. "You want
to provide for your family's future or you want to make sure
your kids go to a good school, these worries have to be assured
before they even become a problem." As a financial planner
where the mindset is to be proactive, solutions are set up
or done for prevention rather than to act only when problems
arise.
IMPACT
The opportunity to have a career through which one is able
to help people build their future is found in a financial
planner's job. "I am overwhelmed by how much my job has
affected other people," said Josie. The main task for
this profession is to discover clients' needs and help map
out solutions to address them. That means taking the time
to understand each person's financial situation, values and
goals, whether it be ensuring that families maintain their
standard of living and keep their homes if something unexpected
happens or to provide needs-based analysis and solutions to
help families build estates for their children and grandchildren.
FREE
TIME
Shopping is said to be therapeutic and this is what Lorna
& Josie do in their free time. As financial planners,
they can juggle their appointments and spend time checking
out the latest trends in shopping malls. "All jobs are
demanding and requires your full attention, but as a financial
planner, I can make sure I have time for myself and my family"
Lorna quips. "You won't be able to function well if you're
too stressed on the job, so in my free time, I roam the halls
of the malls," Josie adds.
BETTER
PAY
A financial planner can indeed manage his or her time and
there is also big monetary reward in store for them. While
employed individuals receive a salary from their employers,
this kind of profession earn their keep from their income
which fluctuate from month to month. "In my job, I get
more, if I make more" Lorna said. These ladies make sure
that they complete their monthly and annual quota to bag the
1st Life
drive prizes as well as their huge commissions.
ROOM
FOR GROWTH
"The competition in our business is fierce, any new knowledge
regarding my craft is a welcome addition for me," Josie
said. Adhering to 1st
Life President Peter Coyiuto's dedication to
continuing education, Lorna & Josie both earned their
Fellowship designations from the Life Underwriters Training
Council (LUTCF) conducted by the Life Underwriters Association
of the Philippines (LUA-P) of which the former is the current
Vice-President. LUA-P helps spread the gospel of life insurance
to the public through the projects they conduct.
PASSION
Passion is what propels these achievers to strive and be great
in the business. "Reaching the Top of the Table of the
Million Dollar Round Table is a feat for me, but this does
not mean, I will stop and rest on my laurels," Lorna
said. "My 15-year consistent qualification to the MDRT
is proof of my tenacity in this ever changing business,"
Josie adds. A career as a financial planner is like running
your own business. It's a career to help people solve their
problems and not encounter them again. They are here to advocate
good health and risk management. For 1st
Life's Lorna & Josie, dealing with people,
their finances, their quirks are indeed a different territory
for them but they're loving every minute of it.

| How

One
of the keys to enjoying good business is keeping your employees

nothing beats the feeling of an employee who knows that his
employer values him.
A
benefit such as insurance is also part of the positive environment
because it makes employees feel secure about their worth in
the company. Consequently, they will also value their employer,
